"The only reason that I’m not
publishing it is because
a friend of mine
that I respect very deeply
asked me if it was
what I really wanted to say.
I told him that no,
it wasn’t what I wanted to say.
But I’m not so sure that
I have actually ever
said anything I really wanted
to.
Truthfully,
I have always wanted to
be the quiet kid.
The one who sits in the
midst of everything,
taking it in with a gentle nod.
And when he opens his mouth
everybody listens.
It didn’t work out that way,
though.
I turned out to be
the kid who talked too much
and seemed to have
an opinion on everything
even if I had no idea
what I was talking about.

I turned out to be the kid who
only said what I wanted
to say after I had already
blown my chances of
saying it.
I was ashamed,
I knew there were too many of those
in the world.
And what made it worse was that
I never had good timing.
I still don’t.
and I’m not sure that I ever will."

Why Should I Worry?

“I have faults enough, but they are not, I hope, of understanding. My temper I dare not vouch for. It is, I believe, to little yielding— certainly too little for the convenience of the world. I cannot forget the follies and vices of other so soon as I ought, nor their offenses against myself. My feelings are not puffed about with every attempt to move them. My temper would perhaps be called resentful. My good opinion once lost, is lost forever.”

"None but he knows what that is which he can do, nor does he know until he has tried. The eye was placed where one ray should fall, that it might testify of that particular ray. We but half express ourselves, and are ashamed of that divine idea which each of us represents.Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string." Ralph Waldo Emerson
